Welcome to the Information Security and Incident Response Unit at Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. The unit is part of the Internetworked Systems Lab of the Software Division of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering.

The Unit’s goal is to bring together academics, researchers and professionals with interests in information security, incident response and digital forensics. As such, the Unit has two objectives:

  1. Promote and support research in security and digital forensics;
  2. Collaborate with professionals and practitioners in the area of information security to develop practical solutions that can be directly applied to the Industry.

In order to meet the objective 2 above we have incorporated “real life” security projects as part of the teaching experience of the undergraduate Computer Security module, where students undertake a major group coursework. In addition, the students have formed the ISACA Student Group which comprises of students from all years of their studies (undergraduate and postgraduate), affiliated with the Athens Chapter of Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
